Theater im Keller: Tobi visits Neukölln's Drag Theater
My event tip for the Theater im Keller in the middle of Neukölln. Recently I made my way to a place called Theater im Keller right in the middle of Neukölln, which exists already for more than 30 years.
Travestieshow Berlin - Welcome to Friends
Especially Berlin´s districts of Kreuzberg and Neukölln are not the gay-friendliest ones, so I didn´t expect a gay subculture´s treasure like a drag theater here at first place. The beautiful spot is located between kebab shops, mobile phone shops and an apparently good running gold buying and selling. Berlin as its best.
The theater belongs to a very stylish and bright bistro which serves delicious drinks and cocktails. At the well-stocked bar I enjoy one (or three) Riesling. All the guests are greeted by one of the owners in a super friendly and charming way. Here you just feel immediately welcome!
Tobis date tip: An unforgettable evening for two. Delicious Tappas platter and a bottle of wine of your choice in a complete carefree package!
The Theater im Keller - Lots of Berlin
As soon as I enter the sympathetic theater, my heart rises: a cozy hall that offers space for barely more than 40 people. Perfect view of the stage. All seats are occupied. The entire show is mastered by four talented Draq Queens. The show is called Berlin? We! Love! You! and I am fascinated just from the beginning. The fast-paced show thrives on the unique stage presence of the ladies, who know with much wit, self-irony and skilful punchlines how to wrap their audience around their fingers. Terrific live vocals, brisk choreos and loads of cabaret make for fun. Of course, there are also a few fabulous Lip Sync numbers from which Britney could also score a record.
My highlight of the show are the lady´s stunning costumes and outfits. For each number there is a quick costume change that has it all. The ladies serve all that glitters and own the stage.
Tobi says: entertains, full of talent, lots of fun
Drag is art and you can find it at many places; yes, even beyond VH1. This show entertains, is full of talent and is definitely lots of fun. It´s the perfect choice for a date as well as for mom´s annual Berlin visit!
"Shantay you stay!"
