On the ground floor of popular Ellington Hotel in Berlin´s amazing City West, you can find a very special and famous restaurant DUKE.
Since I had already heard a lot about the trendy Food Hot Spot, I could not wait to get an impression of the location myself and of course, enjoy its culinary delights.
Together with my boyfriend I get a table in the spacious summer garden - perfect on this warm June day. Here you sit in a relaxed atmosphere in the courtyard of the building and can enjoy the day´s last rays of sunshine. As an aperitif our waiter serves us a perfectly cooled Cremant- This man knows how to make Gays happy! On his recommendation, we opt for the 5-course menu including wine accompaniment. Every month chef Florian Gaulert creates a new sophisticated menu based on high-quality and regional products, which can be ordered as a 3 or 5-course menu.
Before the actual menu sequence even starts, we are already served a delicious greeting from the kitchen. It is a lovingly prepared gazpacho with influences of watermelon and lime, which I absolutely have to cook at home (memo to me: buy food!). This is followed by a very special highlight: for the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus, there is a delicate Tatar by Langostinos, decoratively arranged in the spirit of Bauhaus´ modern architectural style. Each course is accompanied by a carefully selected wine, which is professionally presented by our waiter and harmonizes perfectly with the dish. Just in time for the main course, a spicy Mieral pigeon with shiitake mushrooms, I'm tipsy. As a dessert we get delicious Amazake and caramelized soymilk. I share a portion with my boyfriend; of course he does not really get much off.
