The Grand: Roy tests Berlin's trendy address for German-French cuisine
In the heart of the German capital you will find one of Berlin´s popular restaurants: The Grand. Recently I had the opportunity to test the popular place myself, spending an amazing evening there with a friend.
The Grand Berlin: Spirit of the past
The location offers a great mix of restaurant, bar and club. The stylish decor and the lovely furnishings convey the charm of the founding years and reminds of glittering times of the Berlin salon culture. I especially liked the exciting combination of modern elements and vintage design, which creates a unique atmosphere here. I visited the restaurant on a Thursday night and luckily made a reservation in advance as the restaurant filled up fast. Together with a friend I sat at a classically prepared table on the spectacular courtyard terrace enjoying a warm summer day.
The Restaurant: German-French Heaven
The menu focuses on French-German delicacies and creates a perfect balancing act between haute cuisine and home-style delicacies. The offer extends thus over Königsberger Klopse to Lobster. The dishes on offer also feature fresh local and seasonal ingredients.
exquisite meat: fillet of beef, entrecôte and roast beef
I ordered a steak as a main course, which is one of the specialties of the house. The quality of the meat was terrific and the preparation was perfect. You could choose between various side dishes and every wish was fulfilled. We also ordered a refreshing Sauvignon Blanc, which completed the summer day excellently.
The Bar: drinks & cocktails - Cheers!
After lunch we decided to have another drink at this amazing spot. I really liked the elegant, classic decor of The Grand´s unique bar as the stylish ambience is just stunning. The drinks menu offers all popular cocktail classics as well as delicious home-made creations. The professional bar staff gave us friendly advice and service. I finally had a whiskey sour, my accompaniment a mojito. Both drinks were phenomenal!
